Can Americans Find Middle Ground? Or are we headed towards civil war 2.0?

In this video I have a snippet from a free hillsdale college course by Dr. Porteus. In this part of the class Dr. Porteus is comparing fundamental differences between modern progressives and conservative. He compares them to the difference of beliefs between the southern states and the northern states in the pre civil war era, pointing out the difference in what each sides views of justice were. He also points out in this lecture, how the modern difference in parties today, is similar to what it was leading up to the civil war and how the democrats constantly push conservatives to change their views and push them to change beliefs. They constantly call for a compromise, yet the conservatives never get anything in return. It’s a constant push to the left until there’s resistance, time passes and the push further to the left ensues. Progressives want conservatives to stop being conservative, that is the “compromise” as Dr. Porteus points out.
