What Happened to Serial Killers?

Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and The Night Stalker are all examples of prolific serial killers who terrorized communities in the United States. Today, with advances in technology and law enforcement, it's unlikely that a serial killer could exist for very long without being caught. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't cases of serial murder that go unsolved. In fact, according to the FBI, there are an estimated 2,000 active serial killers in the United States at any given time. So, while it's unlikely that we'll see another Jeffrey Dahmer or John Wayne Gacy, it's still possible that there are serial killers out there who have yet to be caught.
