Heaven is synonymous with union, and Hell is synonymous with separation. The more we perceive ourselves as a separate Ego in a hostile environment, the more we will experience suffering, hate, resentment, and every negative emotion imaginable. The more we realize and identify with our oneness with all things, the more we will experience harmony, joy, bliss, and all other beautiful emotions.

You must understand that your natural essence radiates bliss. Meaning that the only reason you can ever be stuck in a constant depressive or negative state is that you have forgotten your true nature and have become separated from your true self. Jim Carrey said it best: "Depression is your body telling you it needs rest from the character you've been trying to play."
