Greatest Song Rip Offs - Who Did I Miss? Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

In this video, we look into some very similar-sounding tunes and wonder who really came up with the song ideas and who "conveniently" or coincidentally came up with something just like it.

There is an interesting book in the Bible called Ecclesiastes.

In that book, one of the opening lines is "There is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 1:9). In other words, virtually everything we do is just a "rearranging" of things that have already been done.

But we often hear the term "thinking outside of the box".

Here is something that I find fascinating in this scripture: with "nothing new under the sun" the author put us in the greatest box of all (under the sun). Meaning that all our physical properties have been subjected and confined to everything under the sun.

Stay with me on this for a minute, as you might find this interesting.

I know a fairly well-known painting artist named Ed Knippers.

Ed paints Christ in the nude (no kidding!). His paintings are not vulgar in anyway and in fact his reason for doing such is to put humanity back on Christ, whereby we have elevated Christ's divinity to such a level that we can't relate to him.
The Church found Ed's paintings too controversial to endorse because he painted Christ "in the nude". The elite art community found his paintings controversial because he painted "Christ" in the nude (a pretty interesting concept if you ask me).

But hold on.

A few years back, Ed's paintings were showcased in an art gallery at the Guggenheim in NYC, along with other artists that displayed "Piss Christ", canvases of human feces, and an entire room dedicated to pictures of naked children (which in my opinion was basically child pornography done in the name of "art").

Now to have a giant vat of piss in a sculpted container of Jesus Christ, to me personally, is disgusting. To frame dung on a wall or to rename child pornography and call it art, to me is repulsive.

Again, stay with me on this...

But Ed said something that was very profound as we looked at these displays of vulgarity.

Ed said that when Michelangelo was painting the Sistine chapel, he was given a specific amount of paint, tools to work with, a confined space and a timeframe for completion.
Michelangelo took those elements and created incredible three-dimensional imagery that had yet to be seen in the art world.

Ed pointed out that all of these elements he worked with were already the same colors, the same tools, the same materials that were "under the sun." BUT, it's what he did with those elements that made them great. And that piss Christ and child pornography was NOT that
(for some reason, sensationalism gets an "A" just because it is shocking, even if it's not creative or truly artistic).

Ed went on to say "it's not what you do outside the box that makes you great, it's what you do inside the box that makes you great."

Whoa Ken, that was you taking us "the long way home" to talk about song rip offs!

Indeed it was! And it's up to us to decide which of these rearranging of musical notes falls into what category?

When someone blatantly plagiarizes or rips off a song, is there really any true creativity in that? And how much did they contribute to their version of that song?

I would like to hear from you to see if you feel that any of the songs that I have listed (and please feel free to list ones that I have forgotten) had significant enough changes that contributed to true art or were they just stealing someone else's music?
