One week after that deadly shootout outside a Saanich Bank of Montreal two ERT members remain in hospital

One officer is in stable condition, the other is in intensive care.

The officer in intensive care, an 8-year veteran of the Saanich Police, has undergone three surgeries so far. But, the road to recovery is going to be long and difficult.

So as not to put additional stress on the injured officers and their families, names will not be released

The outpouring of public support for the men has been exceptional.

The deceased suspects have been described as twins from Duncan BC.

On Saturday, July 2nd police identified twenty-two-year-old twins, Mathew and Isaac Auchterlonie as the two suspects who were shot and killed by police.

Neither of the two Duncan residents was previously known to the police.

No motive has been determined.

Police continue to ask the public for information regarding the movement of the suspects' vehicle, a white 1992 4-door Toyota Camry. The vehicle has two black racing stripes that run across the hood, roof and trunk.

Police are also asking anyone who knew the brothers to contact investigators.

A fundraiser has been started for the officers seriously injured in the botched robbery attempt.

Chelsea Cofield, the Saanich Police Association, and the Victoria City Police Union initiated the GoFundMe fundraiser.

This is not the first time Vancouver Island men with no criminal history have gone on an unexplained rampage.

Back in the summer of 2019 two Port Alberni men went on a murderous crime spree across Canada.

Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18 were accused of randomly killing three people.

The men's bodies were found in Northern Manitoba, reportedly
with self-inflicted wounds.

A motive for the 2019 murders was never made public.

There is no known association between the parties involved in the two separate cases
