Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Rest comes as you obey Him.

1. Come to me.
He wants our response. This is our great need.
All you that are sick of sin. Look to Him. All are invited and all are promised rest. Simply come.

2. Receive the yoke I give you. Yoke speaks of direction. Stop going your own way. Team up with Him.

3. Learn from me. Humble yourself. Release your burden and come to the Burden bearer.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

He say , I will give.

Receive…
1. His Rest. He promises rest. He says to us, Shalom, Peace. He is our Peace. The Bible tells of entering into His rest. We can know a refreshing. For our souls.

He gives eternal peace and a ceasing from striving. His peace is Himself.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

His rest is forever. Those Who know Him have an absolute assurance of rest forever and eternal bliss.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Our gracious redeemer provides us his rest. The rest comes as we no longer trust our own works.

Receive…
2. His Yoke. He says His yoke is easy – it is not hard. This yoke is good for you. We are workers together with God. Serving Him is useful for you. And He works with you. Hear His gracious call. It is earnest and it is simple.

Receive His rest, His Yoke, and receive…

3. His Burden. This burden is light.
It is not going to weigh you down as the cares and labours of life can do.

God extends an offer of peace today – you can make peace with your maker and be reconciled to God.

Receive. It’s really what faith is. What it is to believe.
