This video articulates the gist of the following: Tetrahydrocannabihexol (Δ9-THCH, Δ9-Parahexyl, n-Hexyl-Δ9-THC) is a phytocannabinoid, the hexyl homologue of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which was first isolated from Cannabis plant material in 2020 along with the corresponding hexyl homologue of cannabidiol. The main difference in THCH and Delta 9-THC is federal and state legality. THCH is fully federally legal and legal 41 states, while Delta 9-THC is federally illegal and illegal in most states. Both THC-H and Delta 9-THC produce euphoric psychoactive effects on users and carry a wide variety of medical and recreational benefits. Since products contain only THC-H made from 100% Hemp extract, companies are able to fully legally manufacture, distribute and sell to consumers in the United States. Thanks to the H.R.2 - Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, ratified and signed into law in December 2018, Cannabis containing less than 0.3% Delta 9-THC is legally classified as Hemp and thus is legal for all intents and purposes under federal law. Let’s also not forget, THC itself isn’t federally illegal, only specifically Delta 9-THC is. This year alone, we have witnessed an influx of federally legal, hemp-derived cannabinoids that offer psychoactive properties, all making their way onto the market one at a time. Many of us have by now explored the effects of delta 8 THC, delta 10 THC, THC-O, THC-P, and others, but there is yet another cannabinoid that you can explore if you want a different kind of high: tetrahydrocannabihexol (THC-H). THC-H has the second longest chemical chain after THC-P, therefore making it the second strongest cannabinoid after THC-P. While THCP is said to be 33x stronger than Delta 9 THC, THC-H is around 10-15x stronger than regular THC. Because it’s a natural cannabinoid, it behaves like all cannabinoids do, working with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the body to bind to individual cannabinoid receptors, thus yielding a unique array of effects. Alternative cannabinoid fans are foaming at the mouth to get the latest and supposedly potent phytocannabinoid THCh (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabihexol). THCh, THCb and CBDh were discovered by the same Italian researchers that incidentally found and isolated tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THCP) and cannabidiphorol (CBDP). THCh is also known as Δ9-tetrahydrocannabihexol, tetrahydrocannabinol-C6, or THC-C6 (where C6 stands for the 6-carbon alkyl side chain). It is believed that this compound acts as the filler between pentyl and heptyl homologs of cannabidiol and Delta 9 THC. The primary difference between THCh and THC is the length of their carbon chains. THC only has a 5-carbon alkyl sidechain, while THCh has a 6-carbon alkyl sidechain. This makes THCh a homolog of THC.
