Observation without a base | amihai.substack.com | Art of Now

Casual observation

It seems, that we are seeking a base, to everything.

All the time.

That base could be, as fluid and undefined, as assumption, opinion, idea,

Yet, we hold on to it.

And when we meet the Now, whatever it is, in whatever way it unfolds,

We meet it from a base, a base of who we are, where we are, what we want, how we should meet it,

And the question is asked:

Do we need a base at all?

Can we observe, watch, learn, ask,

Without any base, any assumption, any string of knowledge, that we hope to extend by experience and by approval, or disapproval and amendment, and so on?

Purely, without a base.

Whatever we see, we see as it is.

Is it possible?

And what would be the quality of observation that has no base?

No one to claim for ‘being observing’,

No one to approve, acknowledge, confirm, that which is observed.

Nothing to relates that ongoing observation to any conclusion.

What would be the nature of such observation?

Isn’t it -

Infinite question?

Isn’t it -

Direct look, into absolute unknown?
