Awesome Propeller Tip Vortices from A400M Departing Gibraltar

Royal Air Force Airbus A400M departs Gibraltar with serious propeller tip vortices, the air pressure, wind and humidity were just right to create these vortices. I didn't notice these until I was editing the video and saw it. I'm so happy to see these vortices created by the propellers because its just such a cool phenomena! I will say that I have not seen vortices off propellers from any of the prop planes leaving Gib, nor from any jets taking off, so this was super cool!Show more

I love how these planes land on a tarmac that is surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.

Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the tarmac, an international highway bisects the tarmac with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be very qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom because Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.
