Karen Nash – The American Justice System

Karen Nash is a long-time lawyer in the Los Angeles County public defender's office. Her unit specializes in post conviction work for clients. With someone on the inside who sees the nature of our justice system, Karen is a vital guest to understand what the heck is going in our courts.

California as a state is trying to figure out how to curb its incarceration population. It's also trying to figure out how to reduce homelessness...AND how to reduce increasing violent crime rates in its cities. Somewhere in this morass, hopefully, is an answer that reduced the harm to citizens inside and outside of the justice system. In the meantime, the US continues to lead the world in imprisoned citizens...with a disproportionate proportion of the prison population being black males.
