CRAZY: New Saudia Arabia to order 75 planes at once! 🇸🇦

After an earlier announcement by Saudi Arabia that they were about to invest tens of billions of dollars from their Public Investment Fund, it has now become clear that the Saudi’s aren’t joking around when setting up a new airline from scratch. The future competitor to numerous Middle East airlines is to order up to 75 brand new planes, where the talks on the purchase of ‘just’ 40 Airbus A350’s is said to be in an advanced stage.

Saudi Arabia already has a national airline, namely Saudia. Based in Jeddah it flies to quite a number of destinations across the world nowadays. As the country is slowly opening up for general tourism – there are visa on arrival facilities for a number of nationalities and transit visa are available as well – there clearly is the need for more passengers.

For the time being, this endeavor will most likely be hugely be loss-making as simply transporting passengers through your country doesn’t bring in the heaps of money needed to develop an entire country away from a petroleum-based economy.
