This is a different practice than the rest in being meditation practice where we are focused on who we are as the witness and our true nature. This is a practice of meeting the ego identities that are suffering at the nervous system level to feel them through, so we are acknowledging them and not bypassing them intellectually or spiritually. Addressing both aspects (spiritually and emotionally) with both practices (feeling through emotions of ego identities as well as resting in the feeling of being and knowing who we are) are important to not bypass either one.
