The fact that Batman is the only DC superhero to only emerge from his cave at night, cloaked by darkness, wearing a black robe that covers his entire body, and a distinguishing mask that conceals his top half of his face, is one of the main reasons why he has the moniker "The Dark Knight."

However, the original version of the character of Batman lacked these distinguishing traits because it was very similar to that of Superman, who was portrayed as a powerful man wearing a red costume without a mask or gloves and distinguished by enormous wings that sprouted from his back and took the form of bat wings. However, that design was far from the nature of the new hero at the time, so the creators decided to change it.
