📹 Korean Air KE 631 crash lands at Cebu airport 🇵🇭

Korean Air flight KE 631 crash landed at the airport of Cebu in The Philippines. All crew and passengers were able to safely exit the plane after it slid off the only runway at the airport during bad weather conditions. The airport remains closed as the plane is still located near the runway.

Korean Air 631, on approach from Seoul Incheon airport in South Korea, had already tried to avoid bad weather in the area by making not one but two go arounds at Cebu airport. It also circled near the airport for some time in the hope the weather would clear up a bit. But this didn’t work out, and the third attempt went completely wrong.

The 24-year-old plane, an Airbus 330-200 with registration HL 7525, is a total loss as can be seen from images that emerged soon after the crash landing. In the late 1990’s, Korean Air saw a number of crashes and large incidents, one of them being a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 overrunning the runway at Pohang airport.

This incident occurred at October 23, 2022 just before midnight local time.
