The Waterworld arcade game from The Simpsons has become a freeware game for real, allowing players to emulate Milhouse's playing days at Springfield's Noiseland Arcade. Streamer and indie developer Macaw45 shared a full version of the fake Waterworld game featured in the show. They shared a promotional poster for the game alongside a screenshot that looks nearly identical to the scene in The Simpsons, and stated that the game features "fleshed out mechanics, multiple stages, boss fights, and a huge quantity of secrets for extra replayability." This impressive homage to the show released during a stream on October 9 in their time zone, but October 8 in the US.

Kevin Costner's' Water World is an arcade game based on the infamously overbudget film "Waterworld". The game costs 40 quarters (ten dollars) to play, and once you have deposited 40 quarters, you can take one step and then must deposit forty more quarters.
