Biryani ⎸Rice Biryani (بریانی ) or Briyani or Biriani (beriani) is a dish in the form of basmati rice (usually rice) cooked with spices, vegetables, or meat. In Malaysia and Indonesia, this dish is called with the addition of the word nasi (nasi briyani, nasi briani, or nasi beriani). The name of this dish comes from the Persian language, beryā(n) (بریان) which means fried or grilled.

Persian travelers and traders introduced beriani cooking to Indians and Pakistanis. This dish is not only popular in India and Pakistan, but also in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Muslims and the people of Sri Lanka.

Spices and seasonings are widely used in beriani, but are not limited to, ghee, nutmeg, mace, cumin, pepper, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, basil leaves, coriander, mint leaves, ginger, onion, and garlic. The premium variety includes saffron. For non-vegetarian beriani, the main ingredient accompanying the spices is meat—beef, chicken, lamb, lamb, fish or shrimp. This dish can be served with cutni dahi or Raita, korma, curry, a sour dish of aubergine (aubergine) or a boiled egg.
