The popular story of Sir Isaac Newton states that he was sitting under an apple tree when an apple fell on his head, and he pondered for a bit before he thought of the universal law of gravitation. According to the universal law of gravitation, any two bodies attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
