America as a progressive country seemed to leave far behind the painful history of child support. Meaning never to change it at all. America’s child support system continuously exploits the people who endured decades of institutional violence that have trapped them, and therefore their children, in a spiral of economic deprivation.

It is time to acknowledge the fact that it is an outdated system that perpetuates inequality. America can no longer hide from the racist and gender inequality backlash against the child support system. In accordance with the racist backlash, public assistance for families has informed child support policy for too long. A lot had to face the consequences including low-income parents, especially Black fathers.

Now is the time to recognize that noncustodial parents, mostly men, have endured decades of institutional violence. Men pay more than women when it comes to child support, though a lot of noncustodial parents are men a big portion of noncustodial women do not pay what they owe.

In this video, we will talk about how outdated America’s child support system is and if it really does help the children and give them what they deserve. And also to know whether the child support system is a way to exploit people and whether or not it contributes to inequality.
