Chinese police station opens up in NYC and more cities across the globe.

These stations are meant to take part of a web of more than 100 such law enforcement offices set up around the world by the People’s Republic of China, ostensibly to help Chinese nationals renew their government-issued identification and driver’s licenses.
However… the stations have more “sinister” purposes, such as spying on the Chinese diaspora for the Chinese Communist Party, according to a recent whistle-blower report. “Openly labeled as overseas police service stations … they contribute to ‘resolutely cracking down on all kinds of illegal and criminal activities involving overseas Chinese,'” according to a September report by Safeguard Defenders, a Madrid-based human rights group that documents Chinese repression around the world.

Also according to to Safeguard Defenders, Between April 2021 and July 2022, Chinese police “persuaded” 230,000 claimed fugitives to return to China “voluntarily” (while admitting not all the targets have committed any crimes);
Methods used by the Chinese to target the Chinese include Threatening & harassing family members, denying the target’s children in China the right to education, punishing those without suspicion of any wrongdoing by “guilt by association” and more.
These stations are raising concerns among many and it’s being called a violation of international law and territorial sovereignty by the Safeguard Defenders.
