On Parliament Hill, interim Green Party leader Amita Kuttner and MP Elizabeth May discuss water scarcity issues in British Columbia and the need for a stronger adaptation plan in response to extreme weather events. Following months of drought, a state of local emergency has been declared along the province’s Sunshine Coast prohibiting non-essential companies from using drinking water. The Green party is calling on the federal government to prioritize establishing an independent Canada Water Agency with adequate funding to help mitigate and prevent flooding. In 2019, the government committed to creating the federal agency. Kuttner and May also face questions about developments in the B.C. NDP leadership race.
