Former Russian journalist Marina Ovsyannikova was placed under arrest in absentia for allegedly spreading misinformation about the Russian Armed Forces. After Russia invaded Ukraine, the State Duma imposed a prison sentence of up to 15 years for anyone knowingly discrediting Russia's armed forces.
