Like the primary game, Yakuza Kiwami is a movement experience game with imagining parts set in an open world environment and played from a third-individual point of view. The player controls legend Kazuma Kiryu as he examines the streets of Kamurocho, a nonexistent region of Tokyo considering the authentic Kabukichō area. despite the chief story, players will erratically encounter enemies in the city to battle, as well as meet people that will offer Kiryu side excursions which can be done for remunerations.
