Member of Parliament @Michelle Ferreri (Kawarthas) asks important questions about the difficult trade-offs being faced by Canadians. One such trade-off is having to choose between buying children's winter coats or food on the table. The concern about affordability comes at a time of planned tax hikes (tripling of the tax paid on gas, groceries & heat.)
Many Canadians are heading to thrift stores to try to secure clothing at lower prices - but still facing many challenges at covering expenses, particularly as inflation rises. They may also be shopping at discount grocery stores. Their grocery shopping may include more basic or less items. MP Ferreri is championing Canadians with her questions in Parliament. She seems to really get it - the real life of so many Canadians and their day to day realities. Parents are very much struggling to get everything they need for their kids while juggling heating (and other) costs.
Included in this video is our original footage of thrift stores and discount grocery shopping and scenes of Canadian life in 2022.

Michelle is the Member of Parliament for Peterborough-Kawartha. She was elected in the 2021 federal election and is now Shadow Minister of Families, Children and Social Development (under Pierre Poilievre`s leadership).
