In this episode Constitutional Lawyer Leighton Grey and Carl Trueman have a conversation about gender identity, the role sexuality plays in modern society, and why gender roles are a good thing.

Carl R. Trueman (born 1967) is a Christian theologian and ecclesiastical historian. He was Professor of Historical Theology and Church History at Westminster Theological Seminary, where he held the Paul Woolley Chair of Church History. In 2018 Trueman resigned his position at Westminster to become a full-time undergraduate professor at Grove City College, serving as Full Professor in their Department of Biblical and Religious Studies as of the fall semester of that same year. Carl Trueman is professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

He has written more than a dozen books, including Histories and Fallacies: Problems Faced in the Writing of History, Luther on the Christian Life, The Creedal Imperative, and The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism, and the Road to Sexual Revolution. Historian Carl R. Trueman shows how influences ranging from traditional institutions to technology and pornography moved modern culture toward an era of “expressive individualism.” Investigating philosophies from the Romantics, Nietzsche, Marx, Wilde, Freud, and the New Left, he outlines the history of Western thought to the distinctly sexual direction of present-day identity politics and explains the modern implications of these ideas on religion, free speech, and personal identity.

Dr. Trueman and Mr. Grey unpack the idea of gender identity and the role it plays in western culture, the importance of sexual identity in the way we collaborate as a society, and why it's important to have these roles to forge a future where everyone fits.
