Canada: Consultation period begins on proposed replacement-worker ban – October 19, 2022

On Parliament Hill, Labour Minister Seamus O'Regan announces the launch of a two-month consultation process on the proposed federal ban of replacement workers. Legislation to ban so-called "scabs" during a lockout or strike in a federally regulated workplace is part of the supply-and-confidence agreement struck between the Liberals and NDP. Joining the minister are Senator Hassan Yussuff (former president of the Canadian Labour Congress) and NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice (party critic for labour).
