Wyatt Reed, a US journalist who writes for Sputnik, a Russian-state media outlet, is reporting from the front lines in Ukraine. His hotel was bombed by a Ukrainian strike just hours after he had arrived there — and while he was just steps away.

While in Donetsk, he learned first-hand about the Azov Battalion, how they treat people in the region, and the fear and hatred they provoke. Prior to the Russian invasion, the US government and its media outlets like the NYT condemned Azov as Neo-Nazis. Now, they are celebrated and armed by the west.
