A Tale of Two Sons - 2

The story of the prodigal son is a well known Bible story, probably not a parable. Some have called it the story of a lavish son, and some have called it the story of a loving father. This teaching looks at both sons and describes how they were both deceived in their own ways.

Deception is insidious because it never presents itself as deception but as a truth of some kind, a truth that is actually a lie. If knowing the truth will make us free, then believing a lie will destroy us and put us in bondage. People who walk in deception usually start with a small deception that they accept in opposition to the truth of God’s Word. That small deception opens the door to more deception, which eventually ends in a depraved mind that believes all kinds of destructive things.

In this story are several spiritual principles, spiritual gems, really, including:
• The loving heart of our Heavenly Daddy who is passionate in His emotions toward us and who is relentless in bringing back to Himself someone who has become lost.
• Deception and how it destroys.
• How Jewish inheritance is much more like our Christian spiritual inheritance than the concept of inheritance in the USA.
• The process of repentance and forgiveness – what are the necessary ingredients?
• How Christians can be robbed of their memories of God’s blessings.
