EZY1963 Landed at Gibraltar Airport from Manchester and within an hour later departed Gibraltar International Airport to head back for Manchester. This plane represents Female Aviation Pioneers, on the front of the plane was stamped "Amy Johnson Female Pilot Initiative."👧

According to easyJet:
In October 2015, we launched the Amy Johnson Flying Initiative with the aim of tackling an industry-wide stereotype and doubling the number of female pilots attracted to 12% over two years. We had a fantastic response to this initiative which saw us recruit 33 female new entrant pilots and achieve the 12% target in year one. But why stop there? We have now set a more ambitious target that 20% of new entrant pilots attracted by easyJet in 2020 will be female.

I love how these planes land on a tarmac that is surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.

Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the tarmac, an international highway bisects the tarmac with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be very qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom because Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.
