Black Panther/Chadwick Boseman sold a lot of toys and merchandise to African-American fathers and sons and without the titular strong male lead in Black Panther Wakanda Forever, toy manufacturers and retailers have become "Extremely Concerned" according to this high level toy industry source. Retail sales of MCU Phase 4, particularly of female characters, have been in steep decline with fan interest waning. There are still exceptions like Spider Man, Iron Man, and Steve Rogers' Captain America but some of even those long time hot sellers are cooling down quite a bit as Marvel has exited those popular male leads from the MCU with Avengers Endgame.

The all female primary cast of Wakanda Forever is led by Letitia Wright, who many in Hollywood regarded as "problematic" for her views regarding certain medical treatments during a certain global event that was going on during the filming of Black Panther 2 Wakanda Forever. That "problematic" view allegedly had MARVEL STUDIOS (at least at one point) discussing a possible X-Men tie in to replace her character in the future... Namely STORM.
