Burning plywood for awesome effect.
On today's episode I will show you how I do the famous Shou Sugi Ban burned wood effect easily without any skills needed.
If I can do it, you can do it too!
Originally Shou sugi ban is an ancient Japanese technique for waterproofing and preserving wood. It involves charring the cedar wood surface until it turns black. While shou sugi ban originated for the purpose of weatherproofing wood, it has recently become popular as a rustic, textural design element inside the home. And oh boy it is beautiful.
You don't need to char the wood completely if you only want the effect, just like I did.
I just wanted the effect. Altough making it waterproof would have been maybe a good idea for a van build as moisture is kind of a problem in van life. I didnmt want my ceiling to be too dark because my walls are already very dark. Lighter color on the ceiling gives little bit more light.
