Is Gibraltar one of The Most Dangerous Airport in Europe, Manchester Flight

Gibraltar Airport is often considered among one of the most dangerous airport in Europe because of the highway running through the middle of the runway, the short runway being surrounded by the sea, rapidly changing weather conditions, restricted airspace immediately to the North of the runway, and the gigantic Rock of Gibraltar immediately to the South.

Although we don't have many incidences here, planes often have to do go-arounds or be diverted to Malaga. What do you think about Gibraltar being considered one of the most dangerous airport in Europe? Leave your comments below, but make sure to watch a couple videos before you come to your conclusion, and play close attention to the planes as they are almost at the runway and the turbulence they might experience just prior to touchdown.

Take a look at this easyJet Manchester flight landing right next to me as I'm waiting to cross the airport, and then I go up to the Top of The Rock of Gibraltar to watch it depart.

Get closer to the Tarmac than any other airport at Gibraltar International Airport, you can walk across it! I don't know of any other major international airport in the world where you can do this! Up close 4K plane spotting at one of the most DANGEROUS and EXTREME airports int he world! Subscribe for more!

I love how these planes land on a tarmac that is surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.

Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the tarmac, an international highway bisects the tarmac with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be very qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom because Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.
