Black Panther 2 Wakanda Forever Projected $200M Box Office Opening Weekend - BEST Ever for Marvel Studios & MCU Phase 4?! Really?!

Box Office Pro released their initial projections for Black Panther 2 Wakanda Forever on Friday October 14th one month before the film releases to theaters. They are tracking a range of $180 - 225M for a domestic opening weekend, which I think is high based on previous performance, pre-sales tracking for recent MCU ? Marvel Studios films in the MCU Phase 4.

With the tragic death of the titular character's actor, Chadwick Boseman, it seems highly unlikely that Black Panther 2 Wakanda Forever will be able to draw similar number to the first film from 2018 ( Black Panther ) even when factoring 30% high ticket prices for this type of film compared to its predecessor.

I see a much more realistic figure at around $160-180M opening weekend (as of NOW) in between Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness and Thor Love and Thunder with a final domestic run of around $400M, given how MCU Phase 4 films tend to leg out at the box office following opening weekend. Marvel films have become heavily front loaded, and the math shows clearly that the more heavily front loaded a Disney/Marvel distributed film is (NOT SONY SPIDER MAN) the fast the drop off in ticket sales after the first 3-5 days.
