A Conundrum of Reality

Lament I for our country as it discerns not how to care for its own--
The hungry and thirsty continue to search for adequate sustenance.
The employed are burdened with high taxes and fear of being unemployed.
The unemployed have lost hope of becoming the employed.
The rich often hesitate to help, or resent taking care of the poor.
The poor too often fear what they have will be ripped from them.
The ignorant seek answers from those who profess to have the answers.
It’s a conundrum of ignorance and knowledge banging heads at every turn.

Ask I what has negated the hope of “The Great American Dream”?
It appears to have been ensnared in a Nightmare on Average Street.
Those who ponder the dilemma ask where have all the fair of flowers gone,
And find them in a vase left resting beside a tombstone of unmet expectations.
The dream was once planned by those who accepted reality more than fairy tales.
The sweetest bouquets came from fields made rich by the sweat of one’s brow.
A promise of a dream and a once verdant field await the virtue of truth to rule.
We who have an ear to listen and a mouth to speak must step forward and act!

Speaking the Truth in times of universal deceit is a revolutionary act.--
