After the WWII, the nuclear arms race between the United States and the USSR began. Since the creation of nuclear weapons, the world has been on the brink of nuclear war over 20 times. Initially, the US had the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, but the Soviet Union started its own nuclear development. In 1949, USSR tested its first nuclear bomb and all the 1950s such nuclear tests were performed regularly.
In our new series, you can learn weapons of that period. Watch the first episode of the Cold War Weapons focusing on tanks that could potentially withstand an atomic strike.
Watch unique museums exhibits of Soviet technology, including the vehicle weighs 60 tonnes with maximum speed of up to 55 kilometres per hour. It's armour is boosted to the max - five times more thick than the T-34.
