Jesus: Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, Part 4

Luke 24:47-49; Acts 1:4-8

1. Jesus’ ultimate goal.
• Goal: Repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name, to all.
• Intent: That His disciples and followers would become witnesses of this truth to the ends of the earth.

2. Jesus’ direct order
• But you are to stay in the city… (Luke 24:49)
• He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised. (Acts 1:4)
• Find a place of waiting and enter it full of faith in God, believing that He will do just as He promised.

3. Jesus’ powerful gift
• The promise of my Father or what the Father had promised. (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4)
• The gift: Baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5)
• What the gift will do: You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. (Acts 1:8)
