By-elections on 8 National Assembly and 3 Provincial Assembly seats were held on 16 October. Former PM of Pakistan and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan contested on 7 National Assembly seats against ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM; a coalition of 13 parties).

According to unofficial results, Imran Khan won 6 out of 7 National Assembly seats. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), that is part of the ruling coalition, won 2 National Assembly seats (NA 237 - Karachi and NA 157 - Multan).

PTI won 2 Provincial Assembly seats out of 3. One Provincial Assembly seat (PP 139 - Sharqpur) was won by PML-N. In all, PTI won 8 seats out of 11(73% victory). If these results are any indicator, Imran Khan is conveniently poised to win 2-3rd majority in the forthcoming general elections.
