Hocus Pocus is a 1993 American children's comedy horror fantasy film directed by Kenny Ortega and starring Bette Midler (who also serves as the film's narrator), Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the eponymous Hocus Pocus witches. The film was written by David Kirschner, Mick Garris and Mick Garris, and produced by Robert Stigwood, David Kirschner, and Barry Opper, with music by Alan Silvestri. Hocus Pocus was released by Walt Disney Pictures in the United States and by Buena Vista International outside of the United States. The film was shot in Salem, Massachusetts and at Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida. It has a cult following among young adults who have annual watch parties.

Despite the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic film Hocus Pocus, its second outing had more than a few plot holes that didn't make any sense.
1993 saw the release of the live-action Disney film, #hocuspocus . The film followed three children, Max, Dani, and Allison, as they strove to rescue Salem from the Sanderson sisters, who were evil witches seeking immortality by consuming the lives of children. The film wasn't a huge hit at the time but later became something of a cult classic, so much so that many fans hoped for a sequel, despite the Sanderson sisters being destroyed at the end of the original film.

7:00 Almost thirty years later, 2022 gave fans a straight-to-DisneyPlus sequel, Hocus Pocus 2. In the movie, the Sanderson sisters were revived once more and wreaked havoc upon Salem. Unfortunately, the film had more than a few plot holes that didn't make sense.

The Sanderson Sisters Shouldn't Have Come Back To Life In Hocus Pocus 2
During the opening scenes of the first #film, Winifred Sanderson reads a spell from her book before she and her sisters are executed. The spell enchants the Black Flame Candle to allow the Sanderson sisters to come back to life if it's lit by a virgin during a full moon on a Halloween night. However, by the end of the first film, Winifred didn't have her book or any time to recite the same spell. Without doing so again, it makes little sense how the Sanderson sisters came back to life in the second film under the same circumstances. That said, the first film did hint at a potential sequel when Winifred's spellbook opened its eyes.

Izzy And Cassie Shouldn't Have Received Powers
Having gone to the 'sacred space of witches' on her 16th birthday, Becca unlocked her magical potential and quickly discovered she was a witch. Yet, when facing the #sandersonsisters , she needed help to shield herself from them, which is when Izzy and Cassie discover their own magical abilities and help Becca save the day.
However, it wasn't explained whether Izzy and Cassie had also turned sixteen or if they'd spent their sixteenth birthdays in the sacred woods. Without knowing this, it makes little sense for Izzy and Cassie to suddenly have powers just because of their proximity to Becca.

10:00 #HocusPocus2 Never Explains Why The Sanderson Sisters Are The Mayor's Greatest Enemies
During their youth, Reverend Traske chased the Sanderson sisters from their town, resulting in them proclaiming him their greatest enemy. So, when the Magicae Maxima ritual required the blood of their greatest enemy, the sisters decided that any descendant of Traske would suffice, which led them to Mayor Traske and his daughter Cassie.
Yet, considering their more recent feud with Max, Dani, and Alison, each of whom led the Sanderson sisters to their last demise, it would have made more sense for them to seek out more recent enemies instead of the relative of a man who'd only chased them from their home.
