Given the return of dark patch to the standard format and the help of some other great cards for darkness energy acceleration gengar vmax can power its attacks without houndoom. With a choice belt and even with the help of single stroke energies it does enough damage to get a OHKO on any vstar pokemon which is what gives it merit as the main attacker for this deck. Getting that sweet OHKO on hisuian zoroark vstar is our goal here and will give us a good advantage if we can do it. We need to be careful though as this deck is much faster and zoroark vstar only needs one energy attachment to attack.
