Why I don’t use a feeder for my chickens

Some people use feeders in their chicken coops, while we obviously keep our chicken food stored dry and secure, we simply just pour their feed on the ground in the coop.
Two reasons:
1. It’s probably gonna end up on the ground any ways
2. I want to encourage them to peck at the ground, our coop floor is wood chip and other organic material so we want them kicking and turning over this material to be used in the garden in the long term.
