FFW 14-1: NVIDIA 520.56.06 Driver Out Now for Linux

To counterpoint the development work that MESA is doing with the NVK Driver I talked about last week, NVIDIA has realeased their latest offering, here’s what’s new:

OTA Updates for Proton and WINE NVIDIA NGX builds. Not Automatically enabled, so you have to tweak the environment variable

Updates in Vulkan Driver to allow loading certain key bits without depending on the nvidia kernel module

Bug Fix for Vulkan to deal with corruption in geometry and tessellation control shaders

Nvidia-installer updates

New CUDA Debugger implementation for everything since Pascal

FFW 14-2: More Steam Deck Updates

What’s new, if you’re on the beta or preview channels with your Deck?

If you have new chats from friends, game invites, or voice chat invitations, the Quick Access menu will automatically open to the notifications tab so that you can more easily respond to them.

You can now accept game invites in the footer of the notification

Fixed a bug where a long user name or chat title could break the layout of the chat screen

Longer videos possible for the boot animation

Controller-specific glyphs now on the Lock Screen

Fixed a couple of on-screen keyboard issues: if you put the device to sleep with it up, you;d have to manually dismiss it on waking the device, and made it so that toggling the OSK while already typing something with the OSK no longer breaks things.

You are tasked with defending the core of cyberspace from the onslaught of mutant viruses, with the help of 140 different upgrades for your towers, along with a split-personality drone who may help you. Boss fights will be a real challenge and will present unique situations. Sounds like fun if you like those kinds of games. It will be available on Steam starting next year.
