Indonesia really HATES tourists 🇮🇩

Indonesia absolutely HATES tourists, and here’s why. During the pandemic lockdown and closed borders, Indonesia planned and decided to increase prices of world heritage sites like the Borobudur and Prambanan temples in Central Java to levels that many would think twice.

But it got much worse from there with an announcement that a trip to see the Komodo dragons in their habitat – on Komodo and Padar islands – will cost 18 times more starting August 1, 2022. Official prices went up from 13 euro to around 250 euro per tourist willing to travel there. That’s an increase of 1800% being explained as ‘conservation effort’.

Yes, Komodo dragons need to be protected but it’s absolutely horrible to see this happening. Of course many will cancel their trip, which will hurt the entire tourist industry in the East Nusa Tenggara region of Indonesia, most likely doing much more damage than coming up with a proper conservation plan instead of scaring away tens of thousands of tourists.
