Fire Emblem fans who skip FE1 are missing out. Often called Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light before it received an official translation, the first Fire Emblem game was a hit in Japan, yet only made it to Western shores recently.

Developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo R&D1 and published by Nintendo, 1990's Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light was originally released in Japan for the Famicom. It saw its first Western release in 2020 as a limited time offer for Nintendo Switch, in celebration of the series's 30th anniversary.
