In early March 2019, SpaceX announced that it would not be providing any funds to support the development of Ukraine’s satellite project Starlink after it was offered $2-3 billion USD in investment money by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The reason given by SpaceX was that they believed the project was no longer viable because the program had fallen several months behind schedule. In addition, they also stated that they did not believe the satellite program would help Ukraine reach its goal of becoming an innovation leader in Europe due to disagreements between those running the project and those managing Ukraine’s space agency Ukrkosmos.

The Right Space
The recent news that SpaceX will not be funding the Ukrainian company, Starlink, is a cause for concern. This partnership would have been important for both companies because it would have ensured that the future of space exploration would be as affordable and accessible as possible. However, many people are still unaware of what this means in terms of potential ramifications. The lack of funds will affect more than just those working on the project; it will also affect people who rely on satellites for everyday necessities such as communication and navigation.

First Steps
1. A few weeks ago, SpaceX announced that it would withdraw from the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). 2. The IAA is a nonprofit organization that promotes international collaboration in education, science and technology, while the ITU is an agency of the United Nations which focuses on information and communication technologies. 3. Together, these two organizations work towards global recognition for space exploration efforts. 4.

Growing Pains
It's been reported that Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, will refuse to provide funds for a program called Starlink. This program would build a network of satellites that would enable internet access around the globe.

Stagnation
Ukraine has been playing a pivotal role in the development of the Starlink satellite network, which is intended to provide fast internet access around the world. One of the reasons that they are so integral is because they have been working on a particular type of communications terminal that will be needed for the satellites, and as such were set to receive funding from SpaceX. It was this funding that would help them take their technology from prototype stage to mass production.

Jumping Ship
Reuters reported that on July 16, 2017, Elon Musk announced that his company, SpaceX, would no longer be funding the development of a satellite-based Internet service in Ukraine. This is a big deal because it means that this ambitious project may never see the light of day.

Moving On
The International Space Station is the crown jewel of space exploration, but it has been in danger of losing its relevance. With the introduction of Elon Musk's Starlink satellite constellation, it would be possible for every person on Earth to access high-speed broadband internet through a low-Earth orbit satellite network. It is no surprise that many countries are interested in this idea and want Elon Musk's company SpaceX to finance their projects.
