We are uploading two separate videos from the original video posted to the House website from the Sex Education Interim Study in the Oklahoma House Common Education Committee, October 11, 2022. Part 1 is ROPE Education Director Jenni White sharing that the definitions used by organizations that create Sex Ed curricula - like Planned Parenthood - aren't the same definitions most parents expect. Oklahoma's birth rate is down nearly 60%, but our STD rates have skyrocketed. Why? Is abstinence being taught? If so, does the concept of abstinence even mean what parents think it means? (Hint: it doesn't). Jenni explains that, because sex ed curricula used in Oklahoma is built on concepts that include sexual acts other than vaginal intercourse (to prevent pregnancy) teen STD's are rising while teen pregnancies are falling.
