Pfizer's Corona Pill Paxlovid Can Cause Deadly Blood Clots

At the end of last year, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) ruled that Pfizer's corona pill Paxlovid may be used to combat corona complaints. According to Pfizer, the pill reduces the risk of hospitalization in vulnerable corona patients by 89 percent, if the drug is taken on time.

Millions of Americans with underlying conditions have been given the drug.

A new study shows that Pfizer's corona pill, which President Joe Biden is said to have taken after he contracted corona, can cause deadly blood clots when combined with everyday drugs such as statins and blood thinners. The Pfizer Pill can also cause irregular heartbeats and, when combined with cholesterol-lowering drugs, are toxic to the liver, scientists have found.

Scientist Houman Hemmati told Fox News that the pill has not been extensively researched and has been rushed to market. The corona pill is only approved for emergency use. Many studies have been skipped, Hemmati said.

Many countries decided to order Paxlovid directly from Pfizer. The United Kingdom ordered 2.75 million treatments in January. France, Italy, Germany, Austria and Belgium are now also providing the corona pill. Pfizer has also supplied to Canada, Israel, South Korea and the United States, among others.

"Paxlovid didn't have these lengthy Phase 1, 2, and 3 trials. It was rushed to market under an Emergency Use Authorization, never an approval. And as a result they've skipped a lot of these studies so what we're learning about that drug and its safety is largely based on post-marketing data - people who are actually getting it in real-world usage and then we find out through them."
