The Los Angeles City Council is reeling after its president was recorded making racist remarks during a meeting.

In a leaked audio recording, Nury Martinez, a Democrat and the first Latina to become City Council president, made derisive and racist remarks during a meeting with two other council members, Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León, and labor leader Ron Herrera.
