Justin from Factor 55 notices that my Toyota Tacoma winch line has become frayed due to small sharp burs on my fairlead that developed due to the steel winch hook digging into the aluminum fairlead. This excessive wear can lead to early failure of winch lines. The solution to this mess involved installing a few upgrades to my winching system. First we cut out the worn section of rope and Justin demonstrates how to easily splice and repair any winch line using the Factor 55 Fast Fid needle. Next we installed the Ultra Hook. Rather than dangling your hook out of your fairlead the ultra hook is sucked up tight to the fairlead and rest on rubber pads to protect the surface. The hook withstands incredible amounts of pulling force and is most likely the worlds safest recover hook. Once i get the proper length hardware ill be installing the Factor 55 fairlead as well that has many advantages over the cheaper aluminum fairlead I was using. I hop you guys enjoy this demonstration on how to splice, repair and upgrade your winch system. You can learn more about Factor 55 by checking out their website www.factor55.com
