Dealing With End Times Complacency

According to Jesus and the prophets, we live in the season of the Lord's return. Yet, I look around, and I see nothing but complacency and a total lack of interest among many who claim to be Christians. Why is this? And why is it yet another sign we're on the verge of the Lord's return?
