Councillors and Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) from the City of Tshwane as well as members of the LGBTIQA+ community witnessed Africa's first rainbow crossing design at Church Square in the Pretoria CBD. Background When Cllr Malcolm De Klerk became a councillor three years ago, his main priority as an openly gay public representative was to ensure that the needs of all essionresidents are prioritised. He approached a university student to create various designs for the rainbow crossings, and Transport MMC at the City of Tshwane, Cllr Dikeledi Selowa assisted him in creating Africa's first rainbow flag crossing, a symbol used by the LGBTIQA+ community. This is a symbol of freedom and the fight against systemic oppression
