Scott talks with William Astore about an article he penned recently in TomDispatch about the inner rot plaguing today’s U.S. military. Astore, who served as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force, has observed an existential flaw that threatens the military from within — lies are rewarded while truthtellers are punished. In this interview, he and Scott take a step back and examine how this sprawling government bureaucracy has hijacked the noble instinct to protect one’s community and used it to wage unjust wars of choice.
